Nope. Calling acts_as_journalized in a model gives you a call to acts_as_activity_provider for free. The call to acts_as_journalized in attachment.rb (line 33) provides the "files" activity (lines 38-40). The explicit call to acts_as_activity_provider (line 42) is only needed because this model provides to types of activities, the explicit call providing the "documents" activity.
