Hi everyone,
I suggested that in #263, but as Eric pointed out correctly, it's not really a thing that can be changed just by the theme.
Essentially, I think "Overview" page as it is right now is not particularly useful to the user. You land there just to click through to another page. When I click on "Overview" right now, the only thing I ever use is the time tracking links in the sidebar. Apart from that, as a landing page for the project it's pretty much useless for the user.
Instead, I'd suggest to have a page that is much more user-centric. I would propose to have a "Project dashboard" landing page for each project. This one should display project-related often-used information relavant to the user, much like on the default "My page" side (only project specific). E.g.
- Open issues assigned to me
- issue watched by me
- Issue that are
- Overdue
- Due today
- Due this week
- Due this month
- ...
Just to give an idea.
The page could still display "Latest news" of course.
The project summary/background information (website, description, members, issue summary) I move into the background or a separate "Project summary" page. Again: I think this information is really only ever needed by users who don't know the project. Once you work in a project however, it's not helping your work at all and becomes a nuisance. Since Chiliproject is a work tool, I think it should first and foremost make daily tasks as easy as possible.
What do you think?
Cheers,
Jan
