[Team Meeting] Planning of the 2.0 Release
Added by Holger Just at 2011-03-14 09:50 pm
Greetings folks,
in preparation if the upcoming 2.0 release, I'd like to call for a team or dev meeting. Goal of this meeting should be to
- decide on the feature set for 2.0
- decide who is going to work on which part
I propose to held the team meeting in IRC on
Date: 2011-03-18, 17:00 GMT
Location: IRC on Freenode's #chiliproject channel
Also I propose the following topics:
- Description of the release goals as of #118
- Find supporters of the different areas of development
- Introduce Bundler for dependency handling
- Move to Rails 2.3.11 in preparation of the Rails 3 move in a later release
- Pull out all currently bundled dependencies: RubyTree, CodeRay, RedCloth, LDAP
- Update these libraries if possible
We invite everyone who is interested in the development and future of ChiliProject to participate. Please answer in this thread whether the time suits you and you'd like to attend. Also feel free to propose additional of changed topics.
Forgot...
I'd also like to pull the acts_as_journalized
plugin (#123) into 2.0. Here we could completely remove the deprecated API (which seems to not be used by many people) and massivly simplify the code.
That date and time works for me. I propose we finalize the date and time by Wednesday so I can post about it to the blog.

I wouldn't mind having it a little earlier because I'll probably be visiting friends that evening, but I should be able to attend as long as we don't take too long.
Eric: I can't remember where we discussed this (IRC?), but seeing that you proposed to develop the gravatar stuff separately: in a new gem? On github in a "private" or the chiliproject account? We could discuss this on friday too.
The time is a bit tough for me, but I'll be online and in-and-out at worst.
I could meet an hour earlier if it helps.
Felix: Lets add those two items to the topics list.
Eric Davis
So are we good with 1600 GMT? Can we finalize this now and blogpost/twitter it?
As per IRC and the replies in this thread it's set to 1600 UTC I'll go ahead and make the blog post shortly.
Edit: Nevermind, it's already available :)
Do you guys plan to have the minutes/summary of these meetings available so that people that might want to join the team later on can consult them?
