ChiliProject is not maintained anymore. Please be advised that there will be no more updates.
We do not recommend that you setup new ChiliProject instances and we urge all existing users to migrate their data to a maintained system, e.g. Redmine. We will provide a migration script later. In the meantime, you can use the instructions by Christian Daehn.
Can I install ChiliProject yet?
Added by Gary Mort at 2011-02-15 01:54 am
I'm not adverse to dealing with alpha level code and upgrading as items are released, so my question is mainly is it generally usable "right now" or not?
I haven't had a need for a project management tool for a few months, need to reset one up this week and considering that over half of my favorite extensions where written by Eric Davis it seems best to go with the system he is actively working on. :-)

I'd wait for the 1.1.0 Release It's only a couple weeks away and will be quite usable.
If you have to do it ASAP, I would suggest installing Redmine 1.0.5 then upgrading when chiliproject 1.1.0 comes out

Actually I think our master branch is good now. It's still very alpha but has some of the latest code (Redmine 1.0.5 + parts of Redmine 1.1 + parts of Redmine 1.2 + our own bug fixes). Once you are on master it will be easy to switch to the stable ChiliProject 1.1.0 release.

Going to hold you to it, Eric :-)
Gary, you got a local guinea pig here, and I'll report back when the migration is done.

Well that didn't go as planned. Running 1.0.2 stable on the old server, and cannot get it to run on the new server (refuses to login).
However fresh installs of redmine AND chili work fine on the new machine...
Will run chili on my own for new installs, but for migration I'm stumped.

I'm in a similar boat - I'm fine running more bleeding edge tools. However, I use several plugins in my Redmine installation (1.0.0-devel, updated from trunk who-knows-when). How much pain can I expect (in general, I can post specific plugins if desired) when attempting to use Redmine plugins with ChiliProject?
As a related question, how much compatibility is expected to be maintained between Redmine and ChiliProject as far as plugin support (APIs, interfaces, etc)?

It will always depend on the plugins. I upgraded my install to ChiliProject 1.1.0 with 23 plugins and a custom theme and the process was following Upgrade exactly (i.e. no plugin changes needed). If you want to post the list of plugins you have installed, I can take a quick look at them.

We will keep ChiliProject 1.x close to 100% compatible with Redmine 1.1.x. I don't expect any major changes on our side but Redmine might change their APIs and interfaces mid version.
ChiliProject 2.x and on might break compatibility but there is some plans for having a compatibility layer in issue #274.

My list of plugins is as follows:
- Redmine Question plugin - 0.3.0
- Redmine Bugcloud plugin - 0.0.2.1
- Redmine Charts - 0.1.0
- Redmine Checkout plugin - 0.5
- Redmine Code Review plugin - 0.4.0
- Redmine Drafts plugin - 0.1.1
- Redmine Graphs plugin - 0.1.0
- Issue Due Date - 0.1.0
- Markdown Extra formatter - 0.0.5
- Remove Membership - 0.1.0
- Redmine Repo Pygments plugin - 0.0.2
- Redmine Status Updates - 0.1.1
- Redmine Vote plugin - 0.0.2
- Timesheet Plugin - 0.6.0
Are there any known issues (or lack thereof) on any of these plugins, or is it more just "give it a shot and post a trip report"?
Thanks!

These are all my plugins and should work fine. You might need to upgrade to the latest code on Github for some of them (the master branch).
- Redmine Graphs plugin - 0.1.0
- Redmine Charts - 0.1.0
- Redmine Bugcloud plugin - 0.0.2.1
- Redmine Checkout plugin - 0.5

- Redmine Vote plugin - 0.0.2

You'll need to test these out. There shouldn't be any ChiliProject specific issues with them, at least in 1.1.0.
